BIOFERTILIZERS

Biofertilizers are complex product of live microbial inoculants which are able to fix atmospheric nitrogen, solubilize/mobilize soil phosphorus, release potassium from soil clay minerals, produce plant growth promoting substances, decompose organic material and stimulate plant tolerance to abiotic and biotic stress. Biofertilizers are mass multiplied cultures of beneficial soil microorganisms that can improve soil fertility and crop productivity. The main sources of biofertilizers are bacteria, fungi and cyanobacteria (blue-green algae).

 

Biofertilizers offer a new eco-friendly technology that would overcome shortcomings of the conventional chemical-based farming. Azotobacter, Azospirillum, Rhizobium, phosphorus and potassium solubilising micro-organisms and mycorrhizae are some of the biofertilizers that were found to increase in the soil under no tillage or minimum tillage treatment.

 

They are made in different formulations: carrier based, liquid, powder and granules. They can be applied to different crops through seed treatment, seedling root dipping, soil application by broadcasting, spot or pit application, foliar spraying, drip irrigation etc. Biofertilizers are comparatively cheaper and when used as a supplement to chemical fertilizers, they can reduce the dose of chemical fertilizers. It results in reduced cost of fertilization. They improve crop yield by 10 – 25%. Biofertilizer is an important component of Integrated Nutrient Management and organic farming. These technologies are becoming vital in modern-day agricultural practices.

MYCOROOTSYM WONDER is a water soluble formulation of a mycorrhizal strain which develop symbiotic association with the roots of higher plants. Vesicular Arbuscular Mycorrhizae (VAM) fungi infect and spread inside the root. It leads to the absorption of phosphate from outside which finally transfer phosphate to the cortical root cells. They possess special structures known as vesicles and arbuscules. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION

BIO REVIVE is a microbial product developed for protecting the crops from abiotic and biotic stress especially water stress/drought. The beneficial bacteria present in this formulation are different from others in metabolising methanol and other simpler carbon compounds by living in phyllosphere, the aerial leaf surfaces of plants. They excrete plant growth hormones auxins and cytokinins that influence germination and root growth and help plants to endure water stress. Because in dry conditions, quick growth of deep roots soon after germination may gain a competitive advantage over more shallowly rooted species. And also, these bacteria exude osmo-protectants namely sugars and alcohols on the surface of the plants they reside at. It also enables the plant to close the stomata in the leaves at the time of water stress for reducing the evapo-transpirational loss of water. These mechanisms are believed to help in protecting the plants from desiccation and high temperatures.

Plants are constantly under attack from all kinds of pathogens such as bacteria, fungi, and insect pests that damage crops. However, the agents that cause disease and infestations have natural enemies which exist naturally in any agricultural system. There are different types of natural enemies: macro-organisms such as insects (predators and parasites) and nematodes and micro-organisms such as bacteria, fungi, and viruses. These natural enemies form the basis of biological control. The use of biological controls is playing an ever greater role in the sustainable control of diseases and pests. The mode of action of bio-control agents includes Competition, Antibiosis, Mycoparasitism / Hyper parasitism, Lytic enzymes, Hydrogen cyanide, Induced Systemic Resistance (ISR), and Plant growth promotion.

Method of application

Nursery application: Dilute the product @10 g per litre and apply this solution @ 500 ml per polybag in three stages viz.. 1 month, 3 months and 6 months aged seedlings respectively slightly away from the collar region of the seedlings in the polybags

Soil drenching:

Dilute the product @ 20 g /L & 30 g/L per tree fro for <3 years old and > 3 years old trees respectively. Use the diluted solution for drenching the soil or mix the solution with the farm yard manure and apply in the semi circular trench with the soil.

Time of application

Apply the above dose once in three months starting the first dose coinciding with the onset of monsoon rains.
